Because of Him

This was a poem I had the opportunity to write recently for a submission in the LDS magazing, the Ensign.  I'm so grateful for my Savior, and I loved remembering his atonement this Easter.  I loved the new videos the church has come out with about the savior.  I will post a few in the coming days.  In the meantime, I hope you all enjoy my little poem!
BECAUSE OF HIM

Fresh dew on lush, green leaves

Spring rains on newly planted seeds

Snow covered peaks

Against a blue sky that seems to speak

Because of Him

Solemn experiences foretell a trial

Knees do sink but all the while

Faith knows of better days

Trust in a firm foundation already lay

Because of Him

Guilt on a sinner’s mind

Satan’s snares seem to bind

Atonement used in time of need

Finally feeling exultant and freed

Because of Him

Beautiful creations all around

Comfort through tribulation profound

Forgiveness of plaguing sin

Remember, Remember, LET HIM IN

Because of Him

 All my love,

Dear readers, I have a confession.  I have an unnatural addiction to journaling.  I love to write about my life, don't get me wrong.  But the best part of journaling is re-reading.  It is truly amazing when you look back at yourself and realize, "Hey. That was kind of a golden thought right there. I'm glad I thought that."  Today I am going to share one of those thoughts.  As I am a senior in high school, I have been thinking a lot about what college I want to go to, and what kind of a career I want to pursue.  A few weeks ago, I started re-reading some of my journal entries and here is one of those golden nuggets!

"A few weeks ago, I watched Anastasia.  At the beginning of the movie, Anastasia is instructed to leave the orphanage to work in a fish factory.  As she starts the long journey, she comes to a fork in the road.  She can either go down the road to the fish factory, or take the road that leads to Paris, where (unbeknownst to her) her family and ultimately, happiness may lie.  She is stumped.  She has no idea what choice to make.  Soon, she throws her voice upward.  She asks for a sign.  At that moment, a dog steals her scarf and runs down the road to Russia.  Angrily, Anastasia chases after him.  She doesn't realize that this is her sign until she finally gets her scarf back halfway down the road.  I think that maybe I am like that too.  In fact, maybe we all are.  Maybe we just don't realize that we have our sign, until we have already had it for awhile."

Wasn't I a smart tike?  Anyway, I was so grateful to find this! I think I've been waiting for some cosmic, lighted sign to tell me what to do and where to go.  But, perhaps, instead, first I need to walk down a path for awhile before I truly know what is right for me.

Right now, my path will include a semester of college at BYU, a mission, and then hopefully a law degree somewhere down the line.  I don't know quite yet if this is the right path for me, but I am going to start walking it.  One step at a time.

All my love,

Kim

Hello!

I have always wanted to start my own blog and now my chance has finally arrived! I hope you all will enjoy.  Usually, I would write something about myself now, but I'm sure you'll get to know me a little better as you read my blog (which I hope you will).  Thanks for taking a peek!:)

All my love,

Kim
